I carry a diagnosis of social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and mood disorder not otherwise specified.

Ever since elementary school I was different than the other kids. I played alone and dreaded recess time. I never really had any friends, but that was okay because I didn't really know how to interact with them anyways. It was in fourth grade when I was put on my first medication, Prozac, and from there I was on just about anything you can imagine. Prozac, Ritalin, Metadate, Trazadone, Abilify, Zoloft, and Celexa are the ones that I can remember.

My mother brought me to all different psychiatrists and psychologists and they all thought something different. I was doing horribly in school and was suspended several times for refusing to go to classes ironic, huh?.

Well, after several hellish years of school I finally found a counsler that I adore and I meet with her everyother week. I have a pyschiatrist who manages my meds once a month and I am finally doing okay.I never thought that I would be able to say this, but I am going to nursing school to become an RN and have received high honors. It hasn't been without it's rough patches and a trip or two to the psych urgent care center but I am doing it. I can finally say that I am happy with my life. The anxiety will always be a part of my life, but I have learned to live with it or at least deal with it.

I hope my story can give some people with GAD and/or social phobia some hope.
