    Hi there Mzurek,
I can totally relate to you as I am the same although I don't or should |I say can't work any more due to an accident.
I used to love nothing more than meeting up with friends and family and was a real social bunny' but now I have a panic attack at the thought of going out and get myself all worked up.
I also cancel appointments at the last minute.

I have had many hospital appointments that I have cancelled and that's not good as I really need to keep those appointments.

I have only just admitted it to myself this week.

How long have you been suffering? was it something that happened? are you getting any treatment for it?
    I wish you well.

i think agoraphobia secretly works its way into seeming like something else, is why we can't make appointments or see family at get together,
I have avoided family thanksgivings, Christmas and anniversary parties by saying Me or my wife is sick. They all know the truth they just accept it I guess. I still work full time but am on short term disability now due to a breakdown I had at work. Which I think was a mix of Agoraphobia and GAD working together in me. All I can do now to break through the barrier is take 4 mg of Xanax before I go to work or see family and go to the store to get groceries, so how do we get over agoraphobia control on out lives, Mine is Meds and forced appearances. Then when I get home after the outting I get the shakes and nausea, So I take more Xanax as prescribed to be done as doctor prescribed to me. As I said in my introduction The MONSTER always wins in the end.
