I don't drive anymore, but ever since I was in the passenger seat when my girlfriend at the time was driving and lost control of the vehicle I haven't been able to ride anywhere without envisioning the worst accident happening. We flipped 5 times side over side off the highway, so it wasn't a little crash. Physically I only had a few scars on my elbow, but mentally it keeps haunting me everytime I ride anywhere. Is there any advice you all have for me? I havent' really addressed ptsd, because I'm not sure I have it. But these images keep popping into my mind everytime I ride somewhere.

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum. I was terrified of being in the car. I'm a lot better with it now and totally fine if I'm the one who's driving. To conquer this fear my therapist ordered me to drive at least five minutes twice a day, morning and night. When I got comfortable I had to make it ten minutes. It seems so scary and sooooo totally stupid to drive around the block endlessly, but it did work. Good luck.

    hi matt and welcome,
i don't drive either, on the rare occasion i go out i am afraid i will have a panic attack while driving. i do have ptsd as well. do you have a therapist? if not you might look into it. if you let these things go they tend to get worse rather than going away. jmho
