I am so sorry :(
I lost my dog ET two and half years ago and I still miss him a lot...

He was an ex racing greyhound no one wanted due to his age (he was almost 7 when I got him). He had a stroke at 12 1/2 and I was with him when he left.
After I lost him I sent a donation to the greyhound adoption agency I got him from in his memory but asked them not to disclose the amount.
The woman who runs the agency asked me what I wanted her to do with the money. I told her to "do something special"...
A couple months later I was at a greyhound "meet and greet" and she walked up to me with a big smile and said Ray I have something special to show you...
Out from behind her leg limped a beautiful little female greyhound with a huge cast on her back leg. She told me the track had called every greyhound adoption agency and hers was last on the list and because of my donation they were able to take her and get her leg fixed. If no one took her she would have been put to sleep.
I said "Thank you" and had to walk away to hide my tears...
Good things can come out of bad the love ET gave to me was worth a lot more than that donation. One can only guess how much love that little female greyhound will bring to her new family. All the joy the children of that family have from their greyhound came from the love ET gave to me...

Dp1,
I am so sorry for your loss, I too lost a few pets over the years. I only ever had one dog and he was very special, my friend and my protector, it was very hard when he was gone.
To you Dp1

Hi Ray,
There are a lot of people around here where I live that adopt the greyhounds, it is very sad what those dogs are put through.
You have a very big heart for helping those animals with your donation. My friend liked having one so much, she adopted another for her husband. Do you think you will adopt another someday?

Thanks for your replies all, he was a very special dog and a great protector of our family. I have another dog still who is missing him so he is getting spoilt rotten with a new bed, bowls, treats etc...
That was very touching of you ray to do what you did, my other dog has some sort of greyhound in him. He has the body of a greyhound and a head of a collie/dalmation ,must add a pic of him lol
