Hi Everyone,

I am agoraphobic, I have a fear of leaving my house, I can only go to the doctors with extra medicine and my Hubby aat my side. I can go as far as my backyard and thats only with family. I am afraid of cars, other people, crowds, roads, trees, almost anything that can hurt me outside this house. Logically, I know I can get hurt inside the house but noone ever said phobias were logical.

Anyway, the reason Im coming here to all of you is that my doctor told me I have to go to the hospital friday morning for a heart cath. Ive been freaking out since the news. Panic attacks, very high anxiety, shortness of breath, very moody, dizzy, headaches, the whole nine yard I guess. This is going to be awful, really REALLY hard for me to do.

So Im reaching to for some support, help to calm down, help to relieve the stress. I would appriecate any and all replies.

Sincerely,

Roxy  :!: :?:

Hi Roxy,
I would check with the DR , to be sure it is ok to take a bit extra med as u do when u go out ,, very important tho to check with him first ,,,,
When U get there , they r aware I am sure of your condition and will make it as easy as possible for u , maybe giving you something else to calm you ,,I know that during this procedure,, u will be given , something also ,, so keep your chin up,,, and Good Luck,,,,

Hey Florence,

Yes my doctors know about the medicine they gave me valiun and xanax to use as needed. So with that my family will be able to drag me out of the house friday morning. I will take your advice and kindly remind them of my conditioon when I get there so anyone is aware. Dont want to scare them away!!! And they did say I would be sedated for the porcedure.

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement

Sincerely

Roxy :)

Hiya Roxy

Good luck for tomorrow wish i could be of more help but i myself am housebound but i can relate to how you are feeling re panics and all the nasty symptoms

As florence suggested take more meds if need be and let the docs at the hospital know how your panic etc affects you they then should be more understanding or perhaps give you more sedation , me i would be like mr T from the A team need to be knocked out beforehand lol

Again good luck you i'm sure you will do just fine :)

I can relate.

Notice your breathing, take deep breaths slowing it down. Plan the direct trip and invision the exact route you will take, what you will do if you start to panic, maybe plan a great treat for yourself afterwords. Maybe a manicure, a banana split, buy a book....or maybe even something as simple as a nice bubble bath when you come home.

But I think it would be important to not opt out of going. So what if you panic, youve done that before and you'll get over it and you'll get through this. Its big, but it's not bigger than you!

I hope my thoughts on this dread dont come across as trite I dont mean to - I think you can do it, I really do. Just keep telling yourself, "Whats the worse that can happen, and then - SO WHAT!"
