I know how you feel about being too scared to try new meds. Do you have general/primary physician, or a specialist like a psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist? You really do need a medical professional who specializes in anxieties. I have had anxieties (including/resulting in depression) for about 7 years now. Trust me, if you don't find the right doctor, especially one willing to listen to your symptoms and fears, you are not going to get better. My advice to you is to be very open with your doctor about your concerns with your medicines. Just be careful how you say it, doctor's egos get bruised very easily. But maybe you'll feel more secure if know exactly how the medicine is supposed to help you and how low of a dose you can start at and gradually increase as you feel more comfortable taking more. Remember to not hurt your little doctor woctor's feelings. Best way is tell them straight out, it has nothing at all to do with you not trusting them, but because of your anxieties, you're scared of trying new things. Hopefully, your doc will understand and try to help. If they're not sensitive to your feelings, you may need to find a new doctor. (Don't worry too much, I can guarantee the majority of us suffering from anxieties and phobias have been through many many many different docs. Some of us still haven't found the right one.) Just remember, you are not alone. And you'll always get support here.
P.S. Feel free to PM me.

Hi Shelly 1603,
I think that most people are afraid to start meds,, I felt that way ,, myself, and I must say that after feeling so bad for so long I did do as the Dr suggested,, and am a happy person today ,, because of my meds..

hi
firstly just want to say thanks to you all for your responses and kind words of encouragement :D . Regarding docs just seeing my gp at the moment who i have to say isnt the best in the world. I had previously been to him twice before and was given prescriptions which i never took. Finally decided to go back only to be given the same prescription again, and basically told if i wanted to get better i'd have to take them. He just does,nt seem to get it!!! So now here i'am back to square one, and feeling like i,ve nowhere left to go.
Just a bit of background, I'm only 25, i have a 4 yr old and a almost 2 yr old. My 3 yr marriage to my partner of 9 years has just ended and i just dont have the energy to get up in the morning anymore. I want to be a good mother to my kids but i just dont think i.m strong enough anymore!
