Hello i'm new to the site and new to computers, my name is mandy and my problem is agoraphobia, panic atacks and anxiety, i've been living with this for 2 years now not sure what started it but my daughter passed away my father then my friend and i had to move house to a area that i dont know, all of a sudden i started get lightheaded when i went out and dizzy it felt like i was going to faint, its now got to the point where i just go anywhere on my own, my cousin came to visit me and i went out with her in the car but it had to be parked outside the shop i went in so i could make a quick exit when i started going lightheaded, i have 2 small dogs and manage to take them out on my own but it has to be dark even then sometimes i have to rush back, doctor has put me on temzepam and dosulepin but they dont seem to help, any advice on how to stop the dizzyness please it just makes me so tired. thanks mandy.

Dear mandy

Firstly can i say i am very sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter, father and friend l can in someways relate as my agro esculated after the death of my own father and six close friends all in within a six month period of eachother to lose a child i cannot even begin to imagine how hard it must be and you have my uttmost sympathy

Regarding your dizziness i wish i knew how to get rid of it , it is the vain of my life i struggled and still do with it daily to extent i have now been housebound for over a year

All i can suggest is maybe asking your gp for a course of cbt or extensive councelling as imo you need all the help you can get before the problems become worse

Please pop into the chatroom at somepoint as there is loads of support there too

Welcome

we are glad you are here. you will find lots of understanding here. talk therapy such as cbt is best, as pills can just mask symptoms, not make you deal with the underlying problem. talk to your dr, and make sure you are honest about how severe it is, we like to try to make it sound like it is not so bad, and they would rather believe that.

Thanks dino, anna, florence and thelostone for replying, i've read some of the other posts in the forum and can relate to a lot of them, it took me a year to work out what was wrong with me i had every illness in the book and ambulances out when i thought i was dying, i did a bit of a search online looking up the charles linden method, and www.panic-attacks.co.uk (http://www.panic-attacks.co.uk) by mark tyrrell who send you e-mails free on a daily basis, explaining some techniques to use, i dont know if anyones tried them but reading them managed to get me to walk the dog if only to the top of the road and back i'm still working on it, my next thing is dentist next wednesday dont know how i'm going to get there, waiting to see if i can get a lift of my daughter-in law if not think i may have to cancel appointment for a later date which means being toothless as ones dropped of my plate :o now thats on my mind every day i'm pannicking constantly its just so draining its only 3 mins from my house, any way going to ring doctors to see if i can have some cbt she has suggested it in the past but i just could'nt get there, i'm woundering if they can do it over the phone, thanks for the advice.
