20 years
In my heart, in my head.
In my life, in my bed.
Why are you still here?
Those others we've dated,
We've yelled, debated.
Why are you still dear?
We've severed our ties.
We've said our goodbyes
Why are you still near?
We've done better and worse.
Are we blessed are we cursed?
While are you still here?
Do I shove you away?
Do I beg you to stay?
Another 20 years?

Lost
of late I'm having trouble with a different kind of pain
it passes over me engulfing joy and blocking everything
this overwhelming feeling creaps up both night and day
like a fog that came in darkness, I no longer see my way
not sure I can explain it, makes little sense to me
familiar ties depended on for warmth and calm safety
seem frayed as if they're letting go, I'm drifting far away
and although I would fight my heart tells me no need to stay
the things I say are awkward, the words are wrong, not felt
I've no one who would understand, no place to go for help
I no longer belong anywhere, my place in this has passed
I find myself without a script, my role has been uncast
it seems as if my loved ones act graciously polite
but they can also see and wish me go without a fight
how long can I go on like this, I've fooled only myself
my usefulness is over, and a relic needs a shelf
sometimes I fear I've lost my mind, the threads once strong are gone
to others I am sure my worths been missing all along
I'm going through the motions and they're letting me, the dears
Lord, is there no parole from hell, this has gone on for years
written in a melancholy mood and just wanted to share that we all go through downs sometimes...just hafta hang in there and the ups WILL return
