My problem is this: I currently work in the law enforcment field as an emergency dispatcher and am thriving at work. My problem is I believe I have SAD(Social Anxiety Disorder). I would like to get help for this(Px) but my ultimate goal is to be a police officer and with any kind of mental disorders, you are auto DQ pre hire in most places. I never have any problems at work and this is my dream.
My Question: Is there any way to get help without going on record as having a mental disorder??

Hi Mikey,
Firstly welcome, nice to meet you :)
I had a similar problem where I couldn't let anything go on my medical records. The only solution I found (I live in the UK) was to go privately and to state that under no c***umstances must it go on my record.
Although I did come across a few problems. It was expensive (no insurance) and it meant the treatment I had was limited (i.e. I couldn't stay there.)
If anything serious happened, it would mean calling NHS and me being admitted there. Basically a lot of stress!!
I am not sure where you are from? But you may benefit from going to see someone privately. Suss out all of your options first and go from there.
I am sure other ppl on here will also have some suggestions.
Take care
Meg

Hmmmmm a person with mental disorder wanting to carry a gun?
You might want to rethink that one for a while as you don't want to cap someone by over reactioning or accident oneday. We see that a lot in the USA.
I think you might want try looking into homeopathic remedies first herbs and accupunture etc. Use the web for research.
Good luck
Brenda.

as much as it hurts mikey, i kind of agree with brenda,
I was an army/military nut from very young.
i was in army right out of high school
i had a lot of emotional problems that i never resolved before i went in.
I had lots of problems in basic, ait, and permanent party. I got sent to middle east in sept 97 and got very depressed and confused. I spent all my off time asleep.
very dangerous position i was in cause we had live ammo for terrorist incidents with our weapons.
I am glad nothing happened, with anxiety is very bad to have your limits tested in extreme c***umstances.
I wish to this day, someone had said i couldn't go in army, cause now it is still with me. I went AWOL, got kicked out. Anxiety never got addressed truly until recently. Get help first, then worry about work later, for now just do what you can.
