Hi everyone,
I've been in the chat for some weeks and as I feel comfortable there I might as well present myself to those who do not know me.
My main problems are social phobia and agoraphobia, and I am working on it every day, trying to get out as much as possible among my fellow human beings (yikes) :) .
I live in a group home for mentally ill people, we are 8 in each our apartment with kitchen and bath, and have 2 staff people connected with the home. I like it here, and the staff are great, very supportive. At the moment we are out running about 5 km - 3 times a week, the exercise raises the mood. We also go for long walks, and stuff like bowling, sometimes even vacations, we've been to Crete for example. I can do a lot as long as I have a supporting person by my side, ready to follow me home if it gets "too much". I am working on being more independent though, so I can walk alone among people, that is a big goal, but I hope to improve by time.
Also I do work-training once a week at a "clubhouse", a place for mentally ill people. The clubhouse movement in Denmark is adapted from USA where there are many of these, the first being The Fountain House New York. The staff and members work as equals in the clubhouses, and there are opportunities to get out and get "real" payed work.
I do office work, and mostly it goes well, it is good for me though to get out and meet other people than those I know in the group home.
Well thats what I feel like writing about myself, there gotta be something left to chat about in the chat room as well :)
Regards, Yggdrasil (you may call me ygg)
